Hi there. I’m Thomas, a second-year BA Business Management student, and I think you’re going to love it here! Middlesex University feels like one big family – everyone’s so nice and welcoming that you can’t help make new friends. I usually find socialising and meeting people hard, but it’s easier here. My top tip for making friends in future: post on the Middlesex University Facebook page to see who else is doing your course. You’ll make friends before you even start –I did!
I’ve always wanted to run my own property development business, and my sixth form teacher said the BA would be a great way to learn about the different areas of business management, like finance, HR and marketing. I came to several open days at Middlesex and it just felt more relaxed and friendly than other universities I had visited.
I already have a job lined up actually, providing I get a 2:1 or above! Then my plan is to work and save up for 20 years – I’d love to live in America for a while, too – before buying houses and letting them out to university students. I already have contacts and a whole business plan worked out. Middlesex has taught me a lot, particularly about marketing. I’ve seen a whole new perspective to business that I just didn’t have before. The ‘Applications and Research in Management’ module helped a lot, too, and I think it will make me a better manager in future.
